I have been with PIA for a year now and found their service to meet expectations. This isn't to say there isn't room for improvement but generally I have been happy with their service. Living in Australia I have found hooking into a totally different time zone, like Brasil, can improve the speed. Once everything is set-up it all runs quite smoothly, although I always check to see if I'm connected before going onto the Internet. I have found sometimes the auto-connect setting doesn't automatically connect. Not sure if this is a glitch or my ISP has found a way to switch it off. Always pays to check. Cheers, JC
I spent three hours trying to get this vpn to work. My questions to on line customer service were answered with questions followed by automated instructions mostly unrelated to my problem. Than I would get disconnected followed by a statement in red that stated we are unable to help at this time, try another way to contact us. But there was no other way! Even their customer contact page has no email for customer service, just business development and press inquiry. I cancelled my account.
Was easy to set up. Had some additional questions and tech replied within the hour to answer. Verry happy with the vpn and the speed.
It is a really easy interface, it's a minimilist program that dosnt take 2 years to understand. The only reason i'm not giving it 5 star is because of the drop in speed, might be because of my location (probebly is), but my speed can easily be cut in half while navigating on the net. No at all a deal breaker. So if you are far from the servers I would advice you might have a good amounth of speed cut, but for the price and for everything else you have, it's a downside Worth taking sometimes. And when i say speed off, it's not like it's take 2 minute to load Google either. Normaly my pages load in about in between 2 to 5 second, now it can take 5 to 10 second.
I have recently bought monthly subscription just to give it a try. Heard a lot of good things about PIA. Till now works very well. Even I can use netflix too, which is very cool. Easy to setup. Planning to get a yearly subs after few weeks. Not sure about their tech support, as it is working perfectly till now
Netflix started blocking most VPN's this year and PIA is one of them when I contacted the support department and ask them will there ever be a work aroung they told me it is not their problem and this is the way it is going to be. Time to move on. update 02/26/2016 I can even watch the oscars online ABC knows where I am at no matter what City I pick, Netflix, No Good Hulu, No Good ABC, No Good If I had not paid a year in advanced i would have cancel it is of no use to me, I have contacted PIA and they have sent a long reply about how and why which I do not care I sign up with express VPN and Netflix - Good Hulu - Good ABC - Good enough said
These guys blatantly throttle torrent traffic, even the legal kind, constanly dropping connections hoping to kick the transfer and limit traffic on their system. The customer service is useless, probably on purpose (they reply to all of these to garner subscriptions, but good luck getting actual help...). I'd definitely recommend a different service if you need to send/receive a high volume of data.
Though the service was compatible with all of my devices I did have a hard time getting most of them set up. It took me months of research and trial and error(I'm still quite new to linux) to get everything set up and to get rid of the dns leaks I was having. The only linux support they offer is for Ubuntu which I do use for some of my conputers but is not what I use on my primary computer. That said I was offered only the support from the P.I.A. community, it was of no help. Ask Fedora, the openvpn forums, and the Arch wiki were what helped me get up and running. If you are the type to not need tech support or use their supported OS's I doubt there would be anything to complain about. I knew what I was getting into when I bought my subscription, that I wouldn't be receiving any tech support so I can't really complain about that. I do wish they would broaden their support so when people like myself sign up its easier to get going. I never had an issue with slow speeds and even if I did I had the option to switch to another of many servers. The fact that 5 connections are allowed per subscription is great, most vpn services offer less, some only 1 connection per subscription. Once I learned how to get set up properly I found it only took a few minutes per computer. Overall I'm happy with private Internet access and have renewed for another year.
I've recently bought a subscription and so far everything's good. It's very easy to set up and there's a lot of documentation available on the site.
Pro: Used this service to be able to share file online. Never had any trouble during the 12 months contract. Easy set up. Cons: Speed and number of servers worldwide may not be at best. Customer relation is cold and do not think outside the box to retain previous customers. Overall, does the job properly for the price
