Has been working great. Earlier today I was disconnected for some reason. Currently working to resolve the issue. Otherwise, thumbs up!
Just signed up for another 2 years. Found the company extremely helpful when I got into some trouble with the initial installation which was completely my fault. The VPN itself has been brilliant and have only experienced a couple of short downtimes the past year. Keep up the good work.
This VPN made my computer extremely slow. Could not load Web pages nor stream netflix. Troubleshooting with customer service was no help, and they accused me of pirating movies, which I have never done in my life. Very rude. Waste of money. Also once Uninstalled, it stays on your start menu and you cannot get it off.
So far so good fastest so far
In general my experience with Private Internet Access has been very good. However, the speeds at which at I am able to download has dropped dramatically from about 27megs per second to 3 megs per second. While some slow-down was expected going through a VPN I did not realise it would be this slow. I wish I paid for a trial first now rather than two years of the service.
I spent some time comparing alternative brands and this one is easily the best VPN service on the market. For less than £3 per month (based on annual subscription rate) you get 5 concurrent user licences and blisteringly fast speeds. In fact my max download speed of 36mbps is not noticeably slowed down by PIA unlike other services I tried that could barely manage a miserly 5mbps. I have been using PIA for over a year now in a rural location, so I can say with absolute certainty that they are able to provide a fast and reliable service for 95% of the time. (yes, even they can have the odd glitch, but you can change location / country if needed to get a better speed). However, one proviso on this is that their service seems to be very slow on a Sunday evening and other peak times. At time of writing I can't get more than 5 mbps no matter which country I go to as long as PIA is engaged. This is an annoyance, but not the end of the world for me personally as I can pick up my downloads again in the morning when full speed will have been restored. I know this load problem at peak times affects the other VPN services as well, so this is just something one has to work around and accept.
PIA is cheap and effective for viewing low-data web pages, but simply can't handle sustained traffic. If you need to transmit or receive a significant volume of data, count on reliably dropped connections and very poor customer service.
I was a bit concerned about the connection speed, but I haven't noticed any lag so far. A few minor tweaks, and everything is working great. After installing WebRTC NL (Chrome Dev) all the tests I've done showed me fully cloaked. The only recommendation I have (and it's a minor annoyance, at best) is that I wish the "Connect" pop-up list you get when you click on the tray icon was delivered in a sub-menu. But otherwise, the service is worth every penny. Thank you!
