I have been testing VPN services for the past Three years. This service leaves open port 443 which is the vital HTTPS port. This is the port that your bank, credit card companies, Hospital's etc. use to keep you secure. The foremost internet security expert is Gibson Research Company (grc.com). Go to the "Shields Up" page and test your ports. All ports should be "stealth", with this service NONE of the 1055 ports are stealth. This measures your port security. In addition, if you purchased this service on a site other that PIA, and have to enter a number in the "gift card" area, the PROMISE of a 7 day money back guarantee, just left. Allegedly, somewhere in the bowels of the site it states that. So, if you found a "deal" that took a few bucks off the annual fee, forget the seven day guarantee. YOU ARE STUCK WITH THIS TERRIBLE SERVICE. Response to below "and the ports are showing as they are meant to". Totally untrue! You obviously do not know what you are talking about. I would suggest some GRC education for you. Don't tell people things that you have no knowledge of! Stealth is the most secure. If a port is seen,, hackers will find the port and and do what they want! Leaving ports open, is irresponsible for a security company. If you would like, I can post here, VPN services that stealth all ports so that they cannot be found. On my personal computer, all my ports are stealth even without a vpn service. Your software OPENS MY PORTS! Obviously, I have much greater knowledge on this subject than you do Dave.
I switched from H(ide)M(y)A(ss). I was with them for over 2 years. So some of my comments are relative to them. Pros 1. Real easy to sign up and set up. Significantly lower cost. I am happy with what I am getting for the price. 2. Set-up on my IPhone was even easier. Love it. 3. I like the option of automatically killing the Internet if VPN goes down Cons -- (comments made with the sprit of constructive criticism and not to troll) 1. The interface is very basic without a lot of options (e.g. I can choose a region/country -- but not specific servers), not sure what to expect, but my only other benchmark os HMA. 2. Not very pleasing UI visually (I am Mac user, and like UI to have some visual appeal) 3. The only interface on my computer is in the menu bar -- too small to see the checkmark showing that the VPN is active, a color change to the icon -- say green for protected and red for unprotected will be very welcome (they do that on their own website, but for that I have to go to the website instead of just looking up to the menubar) 4. Unexplained drop-off, with error message "password not correct"
Had for a year, reliable and fast VPN tunnel for when I'm out and about in the wild world of public wifi. 10/10, will subscribe again.
I was able to set up quickly, with a little help from the Ubuntu forums (I'm running Linux Mint). It's amazingly easy now to switch in and out and change exit points. Had to laugh at myself one day, when I looked for something on eBay and realized I was coming from the wrong country. Couple of mouse-clicks and all OK.
Nice and easy to setup, online help files were good enough to set up some computers/devices to automatically use the VPN service and others not to (which is what I wanted). 10/10, would VPN again!

Convenient, reliable; cost effective. Great product for anonymous browsing and downloading.
I don't have any problems accessing the service via my computers or mobile phone. It's extremely reliable and is perfect for my use case. The Windows application could do with some better menu design (such as grouping 'Connect to' by region), and by providing connection statistics (eg upload/download speed/Mb). This wish however doesn't stop the service itself being really great.
PIA is a fast and reliable VPN service. It was always up when I needed it and I could easily set it up with OpenVPN without any issues. The only downside which they cannot do anything about is that some content provider block the IPs comming from VPN services. I just don't go to those site anymore.
All other VPN's are making an effort to help users access Netflix via a VPN. It's ridiculous that I have to turn off my VPN to watch Netflix in my own region. I'm dropping Netflix because of this. This is a Netflix induced issue, but the poor / lack of response from Private Internet compared to other providers who immediately provided solutions for their customers is pretty crappy. Was a good service otherwise.
