I’ve been using PIA for a couple of years now and I’m extremely happy with the VPN service they provide. I’m mostly using the VPN tunnel from a Virtual Ubuntu client running on VMware Workstation Player and it is running perfectly. I’ve also recommended it to a couple of friends who are both pleased with the service. However, I’ve haven’t had any need for support on the product so I can’t comment on that.
I must admit, I have tried any number of VPN's, the ones who "claim" they're the fasted included. But I get FAR better speed results from PIA than any of the others, bar none. I pay for a very high speed internet connection, and tend to get numbers anywhere from 100 to 110 Mbps without a VPN connected. With those others who claimed to be fastest, I would only get max between 40 & 50 Mbps when I tested them. Yet for PIA I always get from 80-90 Mbps. That makes a massive difference when I download anything, that's for sure. I've also received nothing but excellent customer service whenever I've had "issues" (though rare), plus setup was absolutely simple. PIA gets top marks from me, across the board!
I downloaded and installed PIA a few days ago. Everything seems to be working fine with one exception. When turned on, I cannot access my accounts at Charles Schwab. The Schwab site reports back an internal server error. When I turned the PIA off everything to Schwab worked just fine. Every other connection seems to work fine and the performance is great. Would heartily recommend this unless you have extensive need to access Schwab accounts.
It used to work well until they introduced recent updates. Since then, WhatsApp messages aren't delivered while the phone is on standby (PIA VPN seems to disconnect the phone from wifi and mobile network) so I only get the messages when the phone is active. Also, the phone has trouble syncing with WhatsApp desktop/laptop app since the updates. I use my phone and laptop for work and receiving messages are important for my work.
I rated PIA a 3 because while it says unlimited bandwith they actually heavily throttle p2p traffic. For me when connected to US East when I go to speedtest.net I get my full speed (90-95 mbit/s) However the second I open a p2p app like say q/utorrent, the connection is throttled globally down to 20-25 mbit/s even if the program is not downloading anything. Tested this mutiple times, I'm actually considering changing vpn's because of this.

It didn't use to have any issues, however I am having issues lately connecting it to my iphone, it goes on and off. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but didn't change anything. Does whatever it wants, critics are saying the new vpn version 2.2 doesn't work well with iphones only androids and window computers. Well, let's hope for some improvements before renewing contracts.
Used to be good,now the ship is sinking fast,no support whatsoever.For a couple of months geounblocking has not been working.Do not touch.
Don't bother with PIA VPN - the worst waste of money. Poor stability and constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. Checked for possible solutions and tried them out but that didn't help the poor connection so I wrote to complain. They took 11 days to respond and their solutions were already what I'd already tried. I can't get my money back but I can warn other users so they don't lose theirs to PIA.
