As I am going into the computer science field for my major, I feel it's great to know you can be protected. I am new to this, but one if my instructors highly recommended this one to be good and they back up or protect their customers. That is a plus for me.

I have been using PIA for ~5 years now, and it has been excellent. The desktop and mobile apps are well designed, and using them is as easy entering your username and password. They're perfectly simple and intuitive, but do allow for advanced feature changes if you so desire. There are very little, if any, speed differences in my internet with or without PIA. The security and privacy offered is excellent, the support and community are responsive and helpful. If you're looking for a VPN for any reason, this is the one for you.

I'm coming up on a year of my 3 year sign on, so i have both good and not so good to say: at least it is all accurate cold informed opinion, not slather. (1) Variable bandwidth. Not so bad actually, if you take the time to look, they tell you what each port has, and many of them run at or almost at full speed for me (Im in midwest USA, on a 100m ethernet port): while I'm connected, I have zero complaints. In fact, I'd go farther and say I have nothing but good things to say of the connections. (2) Connection time-outs. This is a fairly big problem. There seems to be some timeout set in their network which forces users offline after a fixed interval. I wouldn't mind if it was a fixed interval of inactivity, but there have been so many times that I was forced off in the middle of an operation that I was forced to consider the system unreliable. We're not talking about getting slapped for 4 hours of on time (which in theory should be OK as well), but making it for an entire hour can be a crap shoot. That's BAD. Very bad. (3) If you're going to use it for short term connections, especially for "crowdmasking", nobody else can touch them. But if you're looking for a router based, on demand connection through the VPN, I haven't been able to get it to work. This may be because these guys appear to be windows folk, and the idea of not using all of the presentation tools to set up and maintain a connection may be foreign to them, or maybe my setup is just too unusual. All I know is that I have checked to be certain that the disconnect is coming from them, and not from inside. (4) Customer Service. No idea. Really. No idea. Not important enough to find out, as it's so inexpensive that I just use multiple on demand connections.

I've been considering a VPN for a while now, but some of the prices of the highly advertised ones were pretty offputting. Private Internet Access was recommended by an instructor of mine and so far I've loved it. The price was just what I was hoping for and it works seamlessly on my laptop, phone and tablet. It's great to have the peace of mind now.

I switched to PIA from CyberGhost and I’m very happy I did. It connects faster, properly handles disconnects, has a nice little tray tool, works on mobile, great price, etc. I definitely recommend it.
