I have had the service for one day so it's not a long term review by any stretch. Install on Windows was very easy. Linux is easy for me and the commands are spelled out clearly: simple cut and paste to get it running. It works great. I am pleased. I put on Linux Mint virtual machine and it worked awesome, but I like the Windows even better, which is my host, because it has a nice kill switch that stops all internet traffic if the service disconnects. This is most important for when using public Wifi to prevent malicious insertion of Javascript / http or snooping. I love to have all my software updates go through a VPN tunnel, too, and this guarantees it. To the average person 'kill switch' implies requirement for manual intervention. While I understand the terminology because it is an accepted term, a better way to describe it is a 'breaker', or 'failsafe cutoff' that automatically turns off all internet if the VPN cuts off for any reason. I found a tool on github that lets me find the lowest latency server in a country for Nordvpn. Then, I set it in the Windows client or in the openvpn command in Linux. The latency is a nice 55 ms. I even game through it at a slightly increased 105 ms as measured in-game. Without NordVPN: Latency: 31 ms, Download: 25MB/s, upload: 2.22MB/s (testing with 'speedof me'), In-game latency: 63 With NordVPN: Latency: 55 ms, Download: 23MB/s, upload: 2.25MB/s (testing with 'speedof me'), In-game latency: 105 ms. 105 ms is on the high end of acceptable, but it's all good. I didn't expect a miracle through VPN in gaming, and browser latency is 55 ms, which I use most. Better than I expected. Edit: Came back a day later and did the test again on the same server and download is as fast as without Nordvpn. Upload, download, and ping are pretty consistent and very good (to me). With NordVPN: Latency: 67 ms, Download: 24.46MB/s, upload: 1.86MB/s, in game latency: 109 ms. I'll put it on my Linux Laptop but I need to install a kill switch app for it. Minor inconvenience.

I cannot use this VPN because it blocks my internet access. I reported this problem to them 3 months ago, they did nothing. I tried to claim a refund, I paid 100, but they did not respond., so I have lost my money. I am very disappointed.

I signed up on NordVPN after reading good reviews in different websites. The problem in those reviews though is that they are written based on shallow usage, the reviewers usually just installed to test it out and uninstalled afterwards. My recommendation as a real customer is: don't go for them. Their VPN doesn't work for multiple sites I've tried. And it's not that the website blocks all VPNs cause another VPN provider worked properly on those sites (not telling which as I'm not affiliated to them in any way.). And even after telling them that the websites X , Y and Z didn't work with them but worked with their competitor they wouldn't refund me because their TOS says so. Ridiculous. They advertise something, we buy it, they don't deliver and also don't refund us even partially. So I'm doing what I can: writing reviews everywhere to help people avoid falling in the same trap I did. Support ticket ID: #1937678

When I first subscribed there was a one year automatic renewal agreement via Paypal. After the second year, I was going to let the subscription expire only to find out that TurdVPN automatically renewed for a third year without my permission. Edit: The response is incorrect. It was clearly stated when I subscribed that there would be one and only one auto renewal. Though the VPN service still works, I keep getting popups stating that my subscription has expired - - very annoying. I went into my Paypal account and stopped the auto renewal there to be certain that it actually would be stopped next year. This provider has zero trust based on my experience.

There seems to be many issues with NordVPN. I feel that it cannot be trusted. Since putting this program onto my computer, having purchased it for the second time, I have had to reinstall my OS more than once because of glitches and security issues. Obviously NordVPN is being targeted and they do not seem to be keeping on top of it, that or their IT department is not troubleshooting properly. For me it's been a total waste of money. Something that should be trusted cannot be. I'm about to erase and reinstall my OS and I will go and find another company. For me this has been a very frustrating experience. A waste of time and money. It may work for some but here, it has been nothing but trouble. I am on a Mac. Update: I have now bought another VPN and NordVPN can retain the money for the remaining time that I was supposed to be with them. Trust in software that the average consumer knows nothing about is essential. I hope it works for others better than it has for me. I decided to forgo the money I have paid and gone with another company.

*********IMPORTANT WARNING********* I HAVE REQUESTED NORDVPN WARN ALL CUSTOMERS OF THE POTENTIAL SECURITY BREACH DETAILED BELOW. I RECENTLY MOVED FROM EXPRESSVPN TO NORDVPN AND USE IT ON ALL MY MOBILE DEVICES PROBLEM FREE AND UNTIL NOW WAS MORE THAN HAPPY TO RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS. THEN ONE DAY I SHUTOWN MY MACPRO AND RETURNED A FEW HOURS LATER TO FIND IT HADN'T SHUTDOWN AND IN THE BACKGROUND BEHIND ANOTHER SCREEN I CAME ACROSS A NORDVPN WARNING ASKING ME TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I WISH TO CLOSE NORDVPN I CLICKED NO AND MY PC SHUTDOWN WAS HALTED. I THEN REALISED THAT ANYBODY COULD HAVE CLICKED ON NO GIVING THEM ACCESS TO MY COMPUTER WHICH CONTAINS BUSINESS AND PERSONAL DATA. I RAISED THE MATTER WITH NORDVPN ASKING WHY I CAN SELECT TO START NORDVPN AUTOMATICALLY BUT CAN'T SWITCH OFF THIS SHUTDOWN INTERRUPTION. It is the unauthorized access of information on networks, servers, or devices, getting around security on those systems, ultimately resulting in data leakage." It's a security breach by nature of the fact NordVPN prevents my computer shutting down to a secure state which gives others unauthorised access to my computer and NordVPN don't warn users of this or offer a means of turning the shutdown override off. I run NordVPN on my Iphone and Ipad, it starts automatically when I start a device and stops automatically when I shut a device down. I shouldn't have to shut my computer down with a set of OSX commands to override the NordVPN shutdown override, this should be built in to NordVPN.
