Update 6 March 2016: Per Dave, the social media guy at PIA I contacted support again. They confirmed that I should disconnect from VPN before the Mac goes to sleep and then reconnect after it wakes. What this really means is that when using public wifi, you should NEVER have email open (or anything on your browser that will refresh with your credentials) or have it set so that it only refreshes on your command. ** Original review below ** I reported to the support team that on my Mac, PIA wouldn't reconnect when it came out of sleep mode. The support person said this was expected behavior. Full stop. What? So, if my Mac goes to sleep while I'm doing something, when it opens and my email automatically refreshes, I'll be exposed? Price is right, but I guess you get what you pay for.

I have nothing but good words to PIA. A reliable service, outstanding customer experience, and valuable price. There's only one thing I'd like to add. Just as a suggestion: let the customers change their payment method at any time. I had an issue last december with my Credit Card, and I couldn't select another one as a replacement. The only way to get PIA back was making a new account. Fortunately, I fixed my card issue in time, to get the payment done.

Been using PIA for over a year. While it is secure, and their customer service is superb, their service has slow speeds. In the 13 months I've been using them speeds have not increased. During peak hours I'm lucky to be able to use watch youtube in HD - my connection without PIA is a 180 MBPS line, so it isn't on my end. They recently implemented a way for the user to report slow speeds, and I'm interested to see if that improves the situation. Until then, I'd go with another service who had a proven record of faster speeds, if speed is important to you.

I have been a Private Internet Access user for 3 years. In the last six months or so, this VPN is simply unusable for any function other than torrenting. Regardless of what server i connect to, my speeds are reduced to about 5% of normal, where simply opening up google.com in my browser takes about 15-20 seconds, it has become ridiculous. Speedtest informs me I am getting less than 5MBp/s, this has been tested repeatedly. So, bottom line, for anonymous torrenting, it's excellent. For anonymous web surfing, find another product, because this one will just anger you. That's my 2 cents on PIA.

I've been using PIA for just over two and a half years now and I've never had problems. It works exactly as I need it to, and I've never had to reach out to customer service for anything. In general, I hate spending money and am pretty cheap, but PIA is very reasonably priced and I appreciate that it's a yearly payment as opposed to monthly like most other services I use.
