PIA is generally reliable in that their servers seem to be up most of the time. The main problem is that the download speed is significantly less than a direct link to my ISP. My ISP's download speed is 150mb but when connected via PIA, I'm lucky to get half that, and usually significantly less. PIA also lost a big chunk of its value when Netflix blocked VPNs.
Good Overall, would have 5 stars from me if the bandwidth was better. Pros: -Extremely well made apps for PC/MAC/iOS -Great Stability Cons: -Bandwidth is not superb (usually <5mbps) in most cases.
The service used to be everything I hoped it would, but nowadays it became entirely useless for using geoblocked services like Netflix. Sadly PIA also doesn't care, because they think their users don't. It sucks that I will have to quit to prove the opposite.
Prima VPN: simpele registratie, eenvoudig in- en uit te schakelen en ook nog eens goedkoop! Wat wil een mens meer?
Been a customer for almost three years and love their service. The servers are top notch, pricing is very reasonable and I even had good experience with their customer service (how rare is that these days?). Downsides: Documentation for Linux is poor (Ubuntu 12.04 - come, on this came out FOUR years ago), the scripts to setup the connections in network-manager are only for Ubuntu, a Linux client is in beta since 1.5yrs (*.deb only) and not officially supported. I'll stick with them because of previous experience and my boxes are set up already, but if you are on alternative operating systems, check the competition (I heard good things about airvpn.org).
I started using PIA when I lived abroad. As I was working from my laptop, it became a fantastic way to make sure I felt safe while using wifi in public places (like cafés). I have to admit though, since VPNs are blocked from certain streaming services I have found another option. Would have loved to say with PIA, but at the moment I feel I cannot justify paying for 2 different services. I get that the whole geo-restriction thing is hard to get around (and not PIAs fault) but still, for my needs right now it's a factor. I want to add though that PIA has awesome customer service!
Let me explain, Private Internet Acces is a good service for a small fee per year. Aim using it now for almost 2 years but the last couple of months more en more websites a visit give me the "No Robot" page because of the IP Blacklist error. This is getting a little frustrating sometimes, for the rest everything works great for only $39,99 a year. Hope the can do something about the Blacklist problem soon.....
Great and reliable service with many payment option but I'm missing better IP address rotation or smart DNS. Fix that and five stars are yours.
Wide range of server locations (lots of servers in US and Europe, several in Asia and Australia). Good speeds. Passes all tests on ipleak.net.
I have to deal with other VPN firms in the course of my work -- some of which can't even understand what an .ovpn file is or why I would NOT want to use their cute little app. PIA's people just get it -- that alone is worth the somewhat higher cost -- and the speed clinches it.
