Great service overall. I've been a customer for two years straight now and recommend this company to all of my colleagues. However, that doesn't mean it's perfect. While they have ironed out a lot of the issues the service had when I signed up (random disconnects, speed issues), I still occasionally experience random disconnects when I'm on a stable wired connection. The applications is well-designed in the respect that once the application disconnects traffic will not be transmitted (optionally), so if privacy is a concern than the disconnects are not an issue at all. Note that I generally only use the US East Server. Other than that minor (and i really mean minor, especially for the cost), I'm very happy with the service. Speeds are far better than you can imagine for most VPNs at an affordable cost. The security and data retention policy for the company is supposedly top-notch as well. I'd strongly suggest this VPN to anyone.
sometimes some issues connecting. But so many alternative addresses available that easy to switch. Basic idea is great. How good it works? Do not know if I know and how I could find out.....
I've been with PIA for nearly 4 years and no problems at all. I first had difficulties connecting, but they talked me through it and the fix worked perfectly. No problems since then - not even when I changed my computer - easy peasy.
I have used this VPN service on iPads and Windows-based desktop computers for several years. Setup and operation has normally been flawless and until very recently I had never had to call on their support team. The upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 last week did produce a small glitch (not of PIA's making) and when I contacted support using the online Chat service they were able to identify the issue and instruct me on how to fix it within about 15 minutes, which I thought was excellent. Highly recommended.
Easy to set up and use
I started using PIA a couple of years ago and never regretted it. Cheap and do what they say; protect your anonymity.
I've no comprehension as to what PIA does, but I certainly feel more comfortable with it running. Life is complicated enough without having to suffer your online surfing being dissected and reviewed by big business.
I've been using PIA for years and it's generally been a great service that allows me to use the internet how I need to, when I need to. I've only had minor hiccups on occasion, sometimes slow speeds, but the customer service is always very helpful and get things up and running quickly. Nice iOS app to make connecting to any VPN gateway easy on your mobile device.
Frustrating experience. I repeatedly have issues connecting to the program. I have to close and tweak the settings to get the program to work. Have tried online chat a number of times but a permanent fix has never been offered. Doubt I will renew when my subscription expires.
I use a bit-torrent client every day to do work for my job that I tele-commute to from my home office. I work with large program files that are usually some type of software or firmware application in beta testing. I use PIA's VPN service to keep not only my ISP from snooping into my traffic, but also to keep out unauthorized people from being able to access the highly secretive (usually NDA protected) work files that I transmit and receive 24/7. It also gives me a small smile and internal satisfaction that my ISP and, I hope, my nosy government, can't peruse my personal and work traffic at will or scrape metadata or even connect me to the service. Very easy to install (although better version numbering and labeling on installers/updates would be an improvement) and get rolling using OS X 10.11.x El Capitan. And the speed is excellent - very little slowdown of down/up - load rates; I get worse network speed slow-downs during peak neighborhood usage times.
