They say they'll give you your money back if you decide you don't want it but in reality they will just email and pretend not to understand you.
Express VPN works so far in my short 10ish days of usage. There is an instant chat with the customer service which is great. But I would only give an overall 3 stars at the moment. It takes a better, more polite comment from the customer service officers to earn a 5-star service. Here I thought customers are always to be respected even though I am one of those who knows nothing about VPN, but frankly, I may be wrong. It appears, at times, some may take subscribers for granted. Cultivating basic etiquette and politeness is something we all should focus on, or so it seems.
This service is so very poor. The connection is unstable. They have developed a major fault in the past few months which makes watching any programme unbearable. Customer services just send you a massive list of things to 'try' none of which fix the problem. And then when you ask for a refund for the poor service you have received, you just get another list of 'things to check'. Awful.
Express VPN is blocking user outgoing email clients. You must turn off your vpn to send and receive email. They hide this fact but let you know during troubleshooting. Is the service really worth it. This is a major CON for me and it is discussed no where.
I tried lots of different VPNs. Express VPN is the best for me. Low CPU and performance impact, great service, fast connection. Really works great. I highly suggest it for everyone that needs serious VPN. Pricing is also great.
Service itself was as advertised, however: I detected over 100% CPU usage (from overclocking) by programme "expressvpnd". Of course I made sure that I was disconnected and I tried rebooting. The very high usage of CPU persisted (it was intermittent, but remained), and at all times appeared in my top 10 programmes running. I uninstalled, and the problem went away. Today I tried reinstalling (with a new download of their website) to see if the problem was with the original install: The problem returned. This is completely unacceptable, and highly suspicious. Want to protect your privacy? maybe first check that ExpressVPN isn't a form of spyware itself - or perhaps using customers' CPUs to mine cryptocurrencies. Who knows, but it's not worth the risk, the money, nor the massive cost on CPU. I was using the linux 64 version, on Ubuntu 16.04, Dell Inspiron 15z 5579, i7-8550U.
Since I travel a lot, I use VPN on a daily basis. I tried quite a few of them over the years and none of them works as good as Express VPN. Quick set-up, easy use, and fast connection make this vpn miles ahead of others so the higher price is definitely worth it. A definite buy and would easily recommend it to anyone searching for a premium service. 5+
Since the big meeting in China back in Oct of 2017 ExpressVPN has steadily gotten worse and worse in China, and yet they advertise that they are the only VPN not blocked here. I used to be be able to connect from multiple locations and protocols and the speed was decent. I am not down to couple and sometimes not even that. Customer support consists of a "tech" person asking me, again and gain, to run a speed test. My last three support tickets got a generic automated reply and that was it. I am not sure why they have all the 5 star ratings and maybe that is the case outside of China, but from inside here they cannot keep it up. In the end China is at fault, but I feel their advertising is very false and misleading. I am not the only person with these problems here, far from it. I doubt I will renew my subscription.
