Compare NordVPN via BesteVPN.nl
I was looking for a VPN service that could handle Netflix on a computer and therefore wanted to try out NordVPN. They had a 7-day trial I could sign up for and when I did that, it signed me up for a whole year. I immediately wrote them an e-mail telling them this, where I got the following response: "Unfortunately, it seems that there was no trial set up for your account, therefore, you were charged for the standard 1-year subscription plan. We apologize for the inconveniences. You can still try out our application risk-free for 30-days and then ask a refund if the provided services are not to your liking." I then immediately ask for a refund, but that Isn't possible because of some Terms Of Service. WHAT A BAD COMPANY THAT MISLED YOU TO THINK YOU SIGNING UP FOR A FREE 7-DAY TRIAL BUT THEN CHARGED YOU FOR A WHOLE YEAR, AND FYI THEY DON'T WORK WITH NETFLIX ON A COMPUTER, ONLY ON THE PHONE! UPDATE: NordVPN is telling me to ask for a refund with iTunes, but regardless of what I write in the box where I'm asking for a refund, I get the same message back. "We've determined that your purchase does not meet the conditions for a refund."
Garbage speeds. My 100mbps connection throttled to 2mbps on their RECOMMENDED server, which I assume is the fastest available server. So yeah, total waste of money and time. Everytime I log in I have to find the best server, load a new profile into my router for that server so I can connect to it and even then I'm looking at usually a 70% or more decrease in my throughput. So it's basically impractical to stay connected to the VPN unless you love 28kbps modem speeds.
I have recently signed up to nordvpn. Straight away my download speed dropped from 40mbs to 7.8mbs upload dropped from 9.36mbs to 4.21mbs. I have tried pretty much all of there servers and the result is always the same. No reply from customer service. So I'm out of pocket and a complete loss of faith in paid VPN's. Stay away from nord vpn. Terrible service..... update Nord vpn customer service did respond and apologized and have assured me that I will be fully refunded within 7/10 working days so at this moment I cannot criticize there customer service. (Fingers crossed).. new update as of 10/09/19. Nord reimbursed my subscription fee very promptly. They were responsive to my communication and equally quick to resolve my request to withdraw my subscription. Maybe I did not give them real time to resolve the issue technically. Thankyou Nord for you prompt reply and resolution .
Why all those negative reviews? I'm not a network expert, but I can honestly say that the bad reviews are paid, I don't know what's the big deal between Trustpilot and NordVPN. Really great VPN. Very helpful and works anywhere. Has a lot of fast servers and the obfuscated servers are really good if you're in a country with heavy internet limitations and censorship. Especially if you go to UAE or Egypt. Have not faced any issues. I reccomend it. I couldn't understand the reason this VPN is heavily critised.
I joined using a direct debit mandate, which was all fine, I checked my bank and the direct debit was set up and in place. Nord suspended service stating that the direct debit failed, I then rejoined using PayPal and they suspended service again stating the same! I have now cancelled both payment methods and I'm using a different service that seems to be fine. Nord works well when they allow you to use it, but the billing department are highly incompetent
Really poor service. Slow, little features on the app, unreliable services unblocking and many, many captchas. Bad customer support, constantly switching you between operators. Beware they put many, many $$$ into marketing and sales to look perfect, but they are not. Their support is just rubbish. My internet speeds were 4x slower than without VPN. They asked me to do lots and lots of silly things like flush cache and change DNS (lol). Of course didn't help and I only wasted 2 hours. They could as well just admit their servers are slow. The second time I contacted them to ask if they own any data centre like ProtonVPN and the answer was "we can't disclose such data". LOL //edit 02.09.2019: just contacted them about BBC iPlayer which did not work on their servers. The consistently terrible customer service said it just didn't work and I had to wait. I double-checked with the customer service and they said all servers are down for BBC. Well actually I checked a couple more servers and found some working with BBC. Asked them why they provide fake info to customers and they were just like "meh". So bad!
Nordvpn is consistently highly rated by reviewers, you can check this for yourself with a quick google search.The negative reviews here are highly suspicious and should not be taken seriously. I have found Nordvpn's service to be very good. High speeds, low ping, zero connection problems, competitive pricing, a no logs policy, a decent app for my android phone. No complaints whatsoever. Do like I did, pay for one month to see what the service is like. I would be surprised if you did not go on to buy a subscription.
Software is bad and getting worse. When I first used the software a year ago it had a few bugs, now its terrible.
I was told that it would work in Mexico, or other places I traveled, that I could still access everything from USA tv to websites! Everyone of them could tell I was using a VPN and denied service. I even tried connecting to 12 different countries through this company! I still have another year to pay because they will not give refunds! Do not use this company, it does not work! I will probably be punished for this negative review by them. They have a lot of my info of the banks and other places I tried to access that they said I could access when I traveled.
I subscribed for the 3 year plan, i am coming from expressvpn 3 years customer. Nord is good but weird enough the nearest location to me have huge latency (Middle east) Turkey, Cyprus, Israel, Greece. When I connect to Italy i get less latency and better speed. Customer service is very good, i do not regret buying it. I dont care where I connect, I care about speed, latency.
