I find it slows the internet down a lot on my computer when I'm connected
I've used in both in Canada and Europe and had only good experiences.
Great at the beginning, but sadly, I am no longer able to use PIA with Netflix, even if I select my own country as a region... I will not renew my subscription if this issue with Netflix persists.
PIA almost never updates it's program, tech support has no tier levels and you can never get past the copy and paste answers they give you from their FAQ that you can get on your own. Servers get banned on Netflix and Craigslist. Gmail locked my accounts because of multiple IP's so you have to verify identity to get back in. All that said they are fairly reliable but speeds are hit and miss so you have to try different servers out to get find one that works for you, auto assign will not get you the best speeds. PIA is the best value out of them all and the only one in this price range to consider.
Signed up a year or so ago and speeds were quite decent until around October 2015. Since then every server I've tried has been super slow, usually below 1mbit down (ookla speed test from england, usa, canada, wherever). Occasionally its a little better but not often. Uploads are far faster (5mbit+) so its not a connection issue. I've tried from a variety of computers and even from different locations (laptop) with no change in performance. I'll be canceling at renewal as well.
I have used PIA for several years now with no issues. The interface is clean and easy to use, and the software and service doesn't interfere with my computer or phone in any way. Lastly, the speed while using VPN is more than acceptable and the software provides you with several encryption and connection options.
High quality and reliability with the lowest cost, that's PIA.
То что я искал! Пока все работает, надеюсь на длительное сотрудничество!
Speed needs improvement. But again Hulu / Netflix needs to be working or I am out.
I signed up for Private Internet Access a week ago. I'd used VPNs in the past with mixed results in terms of speed and stability. I run a software development company from home and deal with programmers and customers around the globe. Being able to view sites from their regions can be critical, especially when testing APIs that have region specific endpoints. Took about 15 min to set up PIA on a Ubuntu 15.10 desktop using OpenVPN. Did have to do some research to figure out how to plug DNS leaks but turned out to be a simple matter of adding a few lines to the end of the .ovpn files. Fired it up and everything worked perfectly. I've seen absolutely no difference in speed, even when going through servers on the other side of the globe for me. And what has really impressed me is that I've had it running for days now connected to a VPN server without a single drop. I paid the year in advance so my monthly charge is something like $4-5. Couldn't be more satisfied with it.
