No problems so far
I have submitted three requests for help, because I keep getting message my VPN is not working. It worked just long enough to get past the refund period. I strongly suggest you avoid business with this company. PC Mag and Lifehacker both strongly recommend this company; they were both wrong. At this point an email that says FU would be acceptable, At least I would know someone was there besides an accountant. This is a long over due update to the above condemnation of the company. I am still a subscriber and will continue to be one. After my initial experience, things did 180 degree turn and have greatly improved their service. If you are reading this, you know the importance of communication. Once I was able to get in touch with PIA, all of my issues were resolved. Admittedly, some of the issues were on my end, i.e. operator error. In addition, PIA has grown their services and have plans to make their service(s) more friendly and with more features that will be helpful. If you are shopping for VPN, I suggest taking a look at PIA. I know there are a lot of free VPN's available, but someone is paying to maintain the routers and it might be your private information that is being sold. Although any company can do this, I feel that a company charging for their service is less likely to feel the need to sell your private information. Facebook is free. Facebook is in nearly every daily news cycle with reports of some type of maleficence. Maybe it is a coincidence. You decide.
Customer support is nonexistent. Even tho they'll send you their generic/canned emails from time to time that say they are here to help, they haven't responded to any of my requests for help. I emailed them 3 times the past couple of days.
Bought PIA for use on Firestick and it didn't work. Have twice raised the problem with Support but no response forthcoming. Have asked for a refund but, again, no response
langzaam internet *heb ziggo 200mb en dat wordt ziggo 40mb max. klantenservice reageert op niks annuleren is onmogelijk of ze maken t zoeken naar hoe en wat onmogelijk verschrikkelijk. zonde van t geld
A VPN is a great idea, but it slowed my computer to a crawl. You have to figure out how to give people their normal computer speed. This is one trade-off I can't live with.
The connection is pretty fast for a VPN and they give you lots of methods to connect.
This vpn service was recommended to me by a work colleague. Set up was extremely easy.and it doesn't slow my net speed (maybe by the tiniest amount, otherwise unnoticeable) I will recommend to anyone who asks me. Thanks private internet access :)
New customer, been using the service for only a few days - in the U. S. Primary use is with a DD-WRT router, so the whole house is utilizing that OpenVPN connection; easy to configure and connects quickly, even behind a gateway router; Roku's and Slingbox are connected directly to gateway. All other devices are connected to 2nd router for VPN. You can even connect a device using PIA client over the router's constant vpn connection. That is good for isolating that one device from the LAN. Speeds remain the same in this scenario. I do have all clients installed: Android, Windows, Mac, iPad and Ubuntu Linux. Only the Linux client yielded a problem. I have to start /stop that one in a terminal. The GUI-based version simply will not connect, which could be my version of Ubuntu - likely.. Overall the speed, while slower, is consistent. Charter is our ISP and it would not surprise me if they cap the traffic over certain ports - definitely throttled somewhere b/c it peaks just below 8Mb down. For reference the gateway router normally hits around 28Mb down. Upload is 5Mb over either connection. Assuming all remains the same after a few months I would probably raise to 5-stars. Oh, one last thought. For those of you unsatisfied - beware of free / cheap services and read their privacy policy, if they have one. PIA is not perfect, and no company achieves that mark. Security seems good. They do have over 3000 servers to handle traffic. Any encryption method will slow you down, but if you want privacy / safety then compromises must be made... sad but true. For speed, try a server where it is the middle of the night. I'm in Boston area and use a UK or German server after 5 PM, for example.
Best VPN around!
