I feel like they used to be a lot better. When I re-subscribed a few months ago every single server I had to use, felt way slower than I ever remembered. Had to ask for my money back, and this did happen (although they tried to convince me not to, about 20 times). So overall ok support, despite the service itself having gone down hill. But in the end, I got my money back and went with a slightly more expensive VPN, with however much greater speed (and app).
I've been using the service for a while. I see a few reviews mentioning slow speeds, and to be honest I haven't noticed this at all, I don't feel like it slows down my connection at all. I haven't had to contact customer services so I can't really comment about that. The software is easy to use, and I like how you can select which country you want to connect to.
It's not fast, and it doesn't provide good anonymity. NordVPN is mostly blocked on many forums. In the online IP leaking tests you can see open ports, another server than IP, your IP is a server or hosting and more... For me, the biggest negative is a very slow connection.
I've been a customer for more than two years now and rather happy with the continuously improved software that makes it easy to connect through a country of my choice. The connection speed is usually around 80-90% of the maximum speed of my ISP in Germany, IF I use a German server (a little less if I use a European, much less if it's a south Asian one and so on). However, the reason I am writing this is because I've read here and there that the support was bad or doesn't even exist. At least in 2017, nothing could be further from the truth. I have problems connecting from my new apartment (to other VPNs as well, as became clear), and the support was exemplary and fast. Minutes after my help request, I got an individual answer, and many mails, again with no prepared standard texts, have been exchanged since then, in a very nice tone with competent answers tailored to the specific problem. This is rare. Maybe it wasn't the case in 2015, but it's definitely not true in March 2017.
I can't believe somebody can be happy with this crappy VPN. There must be many copywriters around. NordVPN has many limitation, but the worst is, in my view, their extremely low speeds, at least here in Europe. Speeds are on the order of some kilobytes per second, and changing server doesn't help much. This lets many applications (even Windows itself) think there is no Internet connection at all. Even NordVPN's own client disconnects from its server more than often, leaving you suddenly unprotected.
Nord is not the first VPN service I've used. The main problems I encountered were 1) the fact that it did not start with windows 7. 2) the kill switch function, which should disconnect the computer from the internet did not function all the time. A kill switch should disconnect the user the instant there is a failure in the vpn connection. I actually found out , the hard way that the VPN had disconnected and that was still online with my actual ip address broadcasting to the entire world. That defeats the purpose of actually having a vpn. 3) the speed was very poor, the online support person told me i'd have to search for a fast server! More time wasted. I should not have to do that. My previous vpns never had these issues. I signed up because of the 2 year deal, but i've asked for a cancellation and I am expecting a refund. I am in the IT field and I use the VPN for safety, just as anyone else would, but this VPN service is just too buggy and it requires the kind of tweaking that died out 15 years ago.
User friendly design, works simultaneous with 6 devices, one of the few VPNs which support Netflix streaming. Coupon "coupon70off" is still valid
Everything works fine, bought subscription with coupon code Coupon70off. If you are not satisfied with service, it's possible to get refunded.
I wanted to test their product with 5 devices (ios, windows 10, macos). Sadly I found vpn connection was not reliable for me. I suppose it can greatly vary by user location, so it is not a sign of a bad product but perhaps a sign for an improvable servers infrastructure. Fortunately, the customer support granted a full refund with no difficulty.
I can't comment on other users issues with very high bandwidth as I'm in a location where the ISP bandwidth isn't so good and speeds change significantly during peak periods. Generally, NordVPN works well for me and they've got a great choice of servers. The Windows interface freezes every now-and-then, but it's fairly stable. It has certainly been improved over the last year or so. They even have an excellent Android App, which is a real bonus! Their customer service sucks, though! CS don't fix anything, just put you off with a few free days VPN access every time you make contact. After they did this a couple of times, on my next contact, I said I didn't want the extra days, I wanted the problem fixed. The agent said "Sorry, I can't help with this issue, my shift is over". My problem was trying to re-subscribe after my first year's subscription expired. I don't use Paypal and none of the other methods were working (over several months!). Anyway, I figured out a way without their help, but it wasn't easy!! Of course, this still means that I valued their service enough to jump through hoops to re-subscribe!
