Some how someone opened a NordVPN account under my name and credit card. I have never contacted this company about anything in the past. Attempting to have them rectify the problem was fruitless. The charge has been disputed and I have requested they be blocked from further charges. Be aware they are not US based and are doing business from Panama and NO phone contact service is available. Repeated request to immediately close this account were met by deaf ears. Be careful.
Perhaps the worst company I have ever dealt with. I wanted a static IP so was told to book a normal vpn account and pay. Then I had to book another account using another email address and then pay yet again for the static IP. Two accounts for ONE service. I did it and all was fine until renewal time. I took the 3 year deal and was told, "oh you need to renew the static IP again too but at a much higher cost". Now, this is disgusting to say the least but to top it off there is NO payment link for the static. The second account shows NOTHING, nada, zippo. After chatting, explaining and going over and over how I have two accounts I finally threw in the towel. REFUND. In 25 years online this is the worst company I have ever, ever dealt with!! Run run run...!!!
i've been using Nord since 2015 but i've been considering switching to an alternative for quite some time now. the more they "improve" the software, the worse it gets: it doesn't boot up with windows, servers are listed by numbers (server 775...) and not by location, text is VERY hard to read... and tech support is helpless 50% of the time. however that's nothing compared to what i've just learned this morning: one of the data centers they rent, has been hacked over A YEAR AGO, and for a whole month! and the only reason their spokesperson mentioned it yesterday, was because the news leaked out on a few tech websites. and their answer "..NordVPN said it found out about the breach a “few months ago,” but the spokesperson said the breach was not disclosed until today because the company wanted to be “100% sure that each component within our infrastructure is secure.” is a blatant lack of customer care! running a small IT company, i've been promoting their service whenever a client asked me about privacy or online safety but this is over. time to cancel my subscription and look for a more reliable, customer-oriented provider.
I've been trying to use Nord VPN for 3 months. I've had issues connecting to sites like Google, Craigslist, Facebook within 5 min of use so I've been turning it off. Today I chatted with one of their online tech guys who had me run a diagnosis it found nothing wrong with my configuration so I'm SOL. Hopefully, you'll have a better experience with NordVPN than me
Do not use. Unethical business practices! They now require you to allow them to filter and monitor the usage of your phone while using the mobile app which is essentially 24/7 as most people keep the app on all the time. They have no reason to monitor your usage of your phone. It defeats the purpose of having a VPN when the VPN requires you to give them wholesale access to monitor you and likely sell your data. Just another hack looking to take your data and make a buck off you. Avoid if you care about your digital privacy rights!
Never waste your money. It doesn't work at all. Customer service never helped to fix the problem and I didn't get my refund. DONT BUY THIS SERVICE
Hi People should be aware that since the beginning of October NordVpN does not work in China. The chat line is singularity unhelpful. It's like they really don't care. There is no time scale for fixing this. They are very evasive when asked this question. They have a workaround which they say should work which involves downloading and using OpenVPN. The problem is the android download link doesn't work. Stay clear of NordVPN. 27/10/2019 In response to the reply from Nord I can definitely tell you that the normal Vpn does not work in Shanghai right now as I am currently writing this from there. The workaround does work although it's inclined to drop the connection.
Lackluster performance when it works, sub-par tech support and unethical business behavior Initially I had a 2 year subscription and results were poor: - It never worked well on my second computer (Windows 10, latest updates etc.): once connected to one of their servers internet connection went down … and could only be restored by turning off Nord. In spite of several attempts (early during my subscription, after that I gave up) with tech support it never got solved. Their tech support did not come across as very knowledgeable, had me try all kinds of things that sounded shaky but I tried and it all failed. While you are supposed to have the latest operating system and updates and patches (if not they blame you) their suggestions included using older versions of their software … which also didn’t work, - Nord didn’t work smoothly on one of our other devices – it would regularly freeze all operations after which the device would need to be turned off and on again, - When and where it worked Nord severely slowed down my internet connection (and I tried MANY servers). Some connections managed to get my 200 Mbs down to 2 Mbs. During my two years of subscription I used free VPN services on the one device Nord completely failed on and all these free VPNs worked w/o problems and were faster. I therefore decided not to renew – I thought. After the 2 year term had run out I tested signing in and was unable to do so I was convinced the service (if you can call it that) had stopped. I then detected they had taken money from my credit card. When I challenged the charge, indeed for “renewal” I was told, they first answered they would terminate the renewal but then backtracked and stated “unfortunately the 30 day term has passed and we are unable to make partial refunds of the service.” Of course they can, they are just unwilling. I challenged again and told them I couldn’t even sign in so what kind of renewal is that, and completely tone-deaf they suggested I reset my password and can they know what computer I use, what operating system, where do I live, which is my internet service provider etc. etc. so they can provide “excellent service”. Yeah, sure. I took another service which I can highly recommend: Express VPN. Not saying there are no other good ones (even free ones) but this one I selected and have been using for a while now. See reviews on this site – that’s a whole different story! Zero problems, fast and works on all devices irrespective of operating system etc. Cannot tell you about their tech support because I never needed them.
Their VPN did not allow me to stream UK tv programes as promised. I tried contacting their tech support but the "support" was perfunctory at best. The recommendations they made just did not work and weren’t particularly clear. They do not even acknowledge, let alone respond to emails for assistance or requesting a refund of my cc payment.
it worked for a year and now can not watch bbc or itv i did all the testing they suggested for ip and dns leak and no leak checked ip and it was not my routers i emptied my hx and cache ect and restarted computer and no joy i installed a different browser and went in stealth mode as apparently there is something in most browsers that can be tracked despite vpn i updated to ikev2 no joy spent hours at this no luck changed from ike to open vpn no luck does not matter what uk server i use-tried their preferred after chat-no joy so luckily my visa is being replaced so i will not renew when it runs out in 2 years-what a waste of money
