Seriously. I read so many reviews and did so much research before deciding which VPN to go with. Everything pointed at Express. OKay, so I'll trust it. I paid for one month this morning. I wanted Express for two reasons. One, their DDWRT support and two, Netflix. Unfortunately, within just a few hours, their support, or lack of it, has immediately become very, very clear. Firstly, don't believe their 'access Netflix' advertising. They have already told me today that two of their locations (Hong Kong and Singapore) no longer work with Netflix, and that i'll have to use somewhere else. Those would be the closest to me, which means anywhere else will be much further away, and thus slower. They should definitely be transparent and let people know before paying that certain locations won't work. But of course, they don't tell you that. Secondly, is their shockingly bad 'support'. DDWRT settings aren't working for me. No problem, it's a ciom;icated set up. So i created a support ticket, expressing the difficulties and asking for help. We live in difficult times, so I'd understand if i had to wait for a reply. That's normal right now. But instead of replying, they closed the ticket and marked it as solved, without even replying! So I created another support ticket, which they also closed. I received an email, telling me my new support request had been merged into original Netflix one, BECAUSE IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM. They didn't even bother reading my support request, and just assumed it was the same problem I had asked for help with in the morning. What kind of support is that? They don't even read your request before deciding themselves what the problem is?? ExpressVPN is the most expensive VPN on the market, but what are we paying for exactly?? All this, within the first few hours of signing up. God knows what kind of problems I'll have if I stay with them long term. Tl;dr: They don't support Netflix in every country, and their support efforts are woefully inadequate. Buyer beware, and be sure to talk to them before you pay to see if they do actually support the services you need. I'll just now be waiting to get my refund. Any delays with that and I'll be sure to update this review.
Have been using ExpressVPN for about 3 yrs now and it has been brilliant. Always works flawlessly. Only issues I’ve experienced thus far was when I tried to use it in the UAE since almost All WiFi connections I found were unsecured and it also would not work over cellular connection either. Could never connect there. I gave up trying after a few failed attempts and have also thereafter been told by friends that the use of VPNs in the UAE is illegal. Not sure how true that is but seems probable that it is not ExpressVPN’s fault for it not working under circumstances but rather them abiding to local legislations or the State blocking its use. Howeve, having traveled a bit, I have never hesitated to use ExpressVPN especially as it is crazy to see the number of unsecured WiFi connections available all around the world. That added layer of encryption adds to provide some comfort that you might be slightly more protected than without it. Have also not noticed significant differences in speeds when using it, which is a bonus. Would highly recommend it and expert reviews both online and in Cybersecurity focused magazines tend to also echo this thought.
Switched from another provider which is still active for a year, but id rather be with Evpn! The router app alone is the easiest and best feature to keep devices protected!
This VPN gives you the native speed of your connection without overhead traffic. HOWEVER, the speed advantage comes with HASSLE! ExpressVPN support is the worst and cannot understand what's the difference between IPSEC-IKE2 and L2TP! The website is so insecure and buggy, they cancel your account randomly, which means you think you're browsing through a VPN tunnel whereas you're naked! The more they get customers, the worse their services become... If your top priority is speed, then get ExpressVPN and fill your life with the hassle: account issues, payment issues, buggy website, WORST support team..etc.
